Sponsored Video: Gondappa’s Hand Walk

Teaching our children to wash their hands sounds so easy, but this simple act can have major consequences. They come home from school, or from playing outside, automatically reach out for a snack and without knowing it, can take in millions of germs right then and there.

It’s an important message, and one worth repeating. Did you know that every year, 2 million children will never reach their 5th birthday and will die due to diarrhoea and pneumonia? Did you know that diarrhoea is responsible for more deaths than AIDS?

Lifebuoy follows its tradition of creating awareness for hygiene and has put together this charming, heart-warming video.

Gondappa is a resident of Thesgora, an Indian village where the rates of diarrhoea are among the highest in the country. Watch Gondappa’s victorious hand walk to celebrate his first child who has reached the tender age of 5.

Although just by washing hands with soap, the risk of diarrhoea can be reduced by 42-47%, however only 2% of mothers in Thesgora said that they encouraged their children to wash their hands.
