Hello and Good Morning Jeddah Blog.. I am a Filipino, and working here in Jeddah KSA.
I would like to give my experience that I never expected to happen. A good deed from an unknown person. Let me tell my story..

Yesterday, after a tiring work, I went to a cafeteria to buy a sandwich. I ordered and sat on the table as I wait for my order. Then a fine man, about 20-24 years old (a Saudi I think) came and ordered his sandwich and sat down in front of me.

I was not looking at him as I feel inferior, and a bit of hesitation due to my experience with younger boys that are bullying me (sometimes).

His sandwich was given to him and he started eating. I went again to the counter and followed up my order. As I wait, I sat again on the table in front of that guy who continuously eating his food. I did not even bothered to look and talked to him.

When I got my sandwich, I started to eat hungrily as he (the guy sitting in front of me) finished his food. He stood up and went to the cashier to pay his order. An went out the cafeteria.

I continued eating my food for I was very hungry.. I was able to make a glance at him as he went inside his pick up truck. I saw him looking and smiling at me before he drove away. But I did not bothered smiling back at him.

When I finished my sandwich. I went to the cashier and to my surprise, the cashier told me that my order was already paid. I asked who paid for it? The cashier answered me, the guy sitting in front of you, just paid and walked away.

Mashallah! I exclaimed! I was very surprised.. I was not expecting that guy would do it for me. An unknown person would do an act of kindness is very rare.. I praised God for that person.

I will not forget the good deed of that person. Whoever you are, I would like to say Thank you very much… Your simple act of kindness, made a great impact on me..
You have taught me a lesson in life that I would never forget.. I will pray for you, and that God will bless you and you family for your good heart.. Thank you..

So, your usual monthly payment as a government employee happened to be fed with two more salaries. This makes it a triple salary for this month.

Could you please confirm if non-Saudi who works for the government are also eligible for two salaries?

I’m an expat working here in Jeddah. I want to take a BA degree in Islamic Studies through Islamic Online University which is tuition free based. However, registration fees etc. cost about SAR 570 or US 150 for the semester, which will be heavy for me working on a minimum salary. I stumbled across this page while looking for sponsorship online. I hope someone here in Jeddah, A sister or a family maybe, can extend their help. I’m not really sure if I’m on the right site for this but I just thought I’d give it a try. I hope to hear from you.

      • Francis on said:

My past experience, early 2000s, in the KSA and the UAE is that the Special-Needs schools ain’t very efficient mostly due to the teachers being on interim levels i.e. they are in a special needs school until they find a job elsewhere as per their qualifications or higher pay. Also, many of them are not qualified for the job and the language is a challenge for the special child especially that the special child is used to a certain language at home and the interim teachers come from different countries with different lingos.

I can’t say much about Jeddah for now as things have changed positively a lot here but, as i spent a good part of my stint in Dubai before coming to Jeddah, the quality of the special-needs schools in Dubai is low with the monthly costs being exorbitant. The commitment is there to help the children in any case but the quality isn’t.

Personally, I sent my family back home 10 years ago as the schools are much better and focused there and I am glad on this tough decision as it helped my child improve much faster.

Well, that leaves me by myself but we can’t have everything so it is better that my child improves and I go down often to see the family.
