The Smart List of Jeddah International Schools

When a family moves to Jeddah from abroad, one of the most important issues for them is the hunt for a good school that satisfies their various requirements. Even among settled residents, one will often hear that they are on the lookout for a new or better school.

To make life a little easier, Jeddah Blog has compiled the following list of schools in Jeddah. The list is by no means exhaustive or endorsed by Jeddah Blog, and parents are advised to visit a number of schools before making a final decision. Click on the links for further information.

Once you’ve settled on a choice of school, then take a look at our Back to School Checklist to complete the process.

Finally, if you can give your personal feedback on any particular school, it may help others to make a decision. Leave your comment at the end of the page.

You have done a really great job by listing the schools in Jeddah.Thank you so much for the info. I would be grateful if you could clarify some doubts. We are Indians moving to Jeddah by the 2nd week of January . My elder daughter is presently in grade 2( cbse-i ) syllabus and my younger daughter is going to be enrolled in kg1. Which are t best schools in Jeddah that doesn’t give too much pressure on studies. We are looking for schools that give importance to personal growth, activities, etc. the monthly fees can be +/-1000. We prefer Cbse schools only and primary schools with cbse syllabus are also ok for us. I have heard about IISJ, DPS , Al Wurood etc. Kindly let me know if any of these schools or any other CBSE schools you know fall in the above mentioned category? Please help

He is doing very well at school but his Arabic language and Islamic culture is almost zero. We are planning to return back home, Jeddah next year (God Willing) but I really concern about his education. I don’t want him to start from the scratch or lose his English with time or being isolated from his native culture and language. We need school that combines both E&A with Islamic culture emphasis. Is there any suggestion?

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    • Hi Faisal, when you say you are returning home does that mean that you are a Saudi national? Because if that is the case you will also have a range of Saudi schools open to you like Dar Al Fikr and Dar al Thikr which I believe are good in English and strong in Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Schools such as the British and American schools will be very strong in English, and maybe even teach Arabic well, but as far as I know don’t teach a lot of Islamic Studies.

I have my BA in Cultural Studies and a minor in Teaching ESL. I also have my TEFL certificate from Hamline University (130 classroom hours). My husband’s family lives in Jeddah. I’m looking for an ESL instructor position as well as a good school for my children. I only have volunteer/student teaching experience because it is required to have a Master’s degree in order to land a paid ESL teaching positon…very frustrating since I need a minimum of 2 years FT and paid ESL teaching experience to be qualified for employment. It’s also frustrating looking for employment while here in the United States. I have visited Saudi three times and love my in-laws and the people there. I love hearing Adhan. This is something we don’t have and I want my children to be raised in an Islamic country. I speak, read, and write Arabic at an intermediate level. If anyone has tips on a good school for our children or employment for myself, please let me know. My husband holds American and Yemeni (Hadramout) citizenship so he is not a Saudi citizen. We need a work visa to live there. Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Layla, thanks for writing to Jeddah Blog. As you currently live in the US, my first suggestion would be to look at the American International School of Jeddah (AISJ), both for your children and for employment. Other than that you can try the Jeddah Prep and Grammar School, British International School (Conti), Jeddah Knowledge School, and some of the colleges for women such as Dar el Hekma and Effat College.
Wish you all the best. Keep us updated on your journey.

My bad experience with Al Maqased Int School – recommends Indians not to enroll in thier school as it is an arab community school and as TC will be given in June, British Curriculam with Indian/Pakistani teachers. Principal-As said (Indian) – v bad attitude and rude. Donot fulfill their commitments, have differences in themselves between Arab and Indian teachers – some say 10% discount, other say SR200 discount on full payment. They enforced me not to choose this school for my child.
They write on their facebook page “” Among the top-ranking international schools in Jeddah”” – they are not, please beware of wrong statements.
